Napoleonic re-enactment is like any other re-enactment group and we are required to wear period clothing, unfortunately the list is endless and you’ll find yourself over the years purchasing more or better kit that is available.
To get you started we will loan you kit and give you a taste of what to expect.
Firstly all reenactors need a good pair of shoes, authentic ones can be just as comfortable as modern shoes but we’ll help you with that. We can loan you your uniform but you will need to a commitement in your first year to start purchasing your regimental dress. There’s lots of second hand kit around and we can help you with this. You’ll need a shirt, Linen/Cotton overalls, Gaiters, Undress jacket, Overcoat. Then as you progress you’ll need your full dress blue jacket or Habite Longe. Again we will help you with all this kit as we make some in house.
Finally your musket. If you already pocess a shotgun license then great, lookout for any cheap Charleville or Brown Bess, there’s plenty around. If need to acquire a license then it’ll cost you about £200 and lasts for 5 years.
